If you're anything like me, you might need help from time to time getting to a place of acceptance with things happening around you. This a lesson I've had to learn and relearn many, many times.
Because I have a lot of experience with this, I've compiled a go-to list of shortcuts to accessing my woo, the side of me that is in touch with the flow of the universe and at peace with the things I cannot control. Maybe some of these will help you, too.
Move Your Body
For me this means yoga, walking, pilates, elliptical. For you this may mean dancing, playing outside, running, or shooting hoops. However you like to move your body, do it. Exercise for me is 1% about my body and 99% about my mind.
Meditation
I am not the kind of gal who can sit myself on a meditation pillow and get there. What works for me is lying down, with a lavender eye pillow on, maybe holding or strategically placing a couple of crystals, and listening to this...
or a guided meditation on one of theses apps...
Crystals
Say what you will, crystals work for me. Do they have magic energy and healing powers? I don't know. Do I care? No. If something works for you, what does it matter if it's real or if it's all in your head?
There are many places to get crystals. My favorite is ChakraHealingShop on Etsy. The owner, Cindy, is a Reiki healer and charges all the crystals with Reiki energy. They've got good vibes.
Scent
Pick your proverbial poison — candles, sage, palo santo, incense, essential oils. The point is do not underestimate the power of scent on your mood. It's the easiest attitude adjustment for me.
Water
Drink it. Swim in it. Bathe in it. Run your hands under it. Did I say drink it? Drink it. The healing power of water is like none other. Taking a shower, washing my face, drinking water...these moments are micro-acts of self-care and I cherish them.
Do you have any shortcuts for getting your woo on? Tell me about them!
